Located in the province of Gipuzkoa, and separated from France by the mouth of the river Bidasoa, Hondarribia is one of the treasures of the Basque coast as it is located within an incomparable setting in a natural environment of great beauty, which offers a great number of possibilities.

Within a very short distance, you will have the opportunity to enjoy different environments. On the one hand, we have the Mountains, where you will be able to hike or cycle, bordering the coast or the Bay of Txingudi, which is composed of Hendaye, Irun and Hondarribia. On the other hand, we have the Sea and the Beach, where you can practice all kinds of water sports and activities. And, finally, the Town, where you can stroll around the old side, discover its picturesque fishermen’s quarter, the marina and the old fishing port.

The multiple possibilities that it offers for practicing sports and leisure activities allow visitors to enjoy different of options, including golf or horse riding.

The town is steeped in history and this can be seen at the old town, where one can get lost and enjoy its cobbled streets, mansions, hundred-year-old houses, the famous square of Gipuzkoa, the Arch of Saint-Mary or the beautiful Main Street, which leads to the Church of the Asunción and the Manzano, without forgetting the Castle of Charles V, an imposing fortress transformed into luxury accommodation that dominates the Square of the Arms, with its many colourful houses that give a picturesque touch to the site.

Hondarribia is famous, apart from for its beautiful architecture and landscapes, for its relaxing atmosphere that covers every corner of the village, and where the food offered in the many restaurants has been rated at the highest level. This is reflected in the spectacular bars of pintxos, which are a delight for all kind of palates. Many of these bars have won a great number of gastronomic awards, both at a national and provincial level.

Hondarribia offers an excellent and comfortable localisation as it is near some towns with great touristic interest, such as San Sebastian (20 min.), Bilbao (1 hour), Pamplona (1 hour) and Vitoria (1 hour).
